Job Details:        

Under the direction of the Vice President for Patient Care Services, directs and coordinates the clinical, financial and administrative activities and personnel of the Pharmacy. Ensures compliance with the Strategic Plan and Mission, Vision and Core Values of the Medical Center and Department. Pharmaceutical care and all regulatory standards are practiced by all members of the department. Ensures that policies and procedures of the Hospital and Department are applied and implemented consistently. Maintains systems and procedures that provide for the pharmaceutical care needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and psychiatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications:

1. Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Pharm. D. degree required. Masters Degree in Business or Pharmacy Administration is preferred.

2. Minimum of three years experience in a supervisory or management position in institutional Pharmacy is required.

3. Current Maryland Pharmacy license is required.

4. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and direct managers, professional and support staff.  Demonstrates ability to staff a 24/7/365 department.

5. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and provide direction to Medical Staff.

6. Demonstrates effective communication skills, oral and written, necessary to exchange information and collaborative with a wide variety of indvidudals.  Effective speaking skills ncessary to give presentations/training to physicians, Senior Management, patients, families, team members, and hospital staff.

7. Demonstrates ability to collaborate wtih all disciplines within the institution on clinical, regulatory and management issues.

8. Demonstrates ability to effectively organize and lead meetings which result in outcomes identified.

9. Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to conduct performance improvement activities.  Provides leadership for patient safety initiatives.

10. Demonstrates knowledge of technological and automated solutions for process improvement related to medication management.

11. Demonstrates the ability to determine cost vs. benefit of new programs.  Demonstrated ability to effectively implement new programs.

12. Requires a working knowledge of the health care field, as well as demonstrated managerial skills, all of which would normally be acquired in seven to ten years in a medium sized health care organization.

13. Demonstrates ability to manage a multi-million dollar health enterprise required.
